Southern University Law Center is a public law school located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It is the only law school in the state that is historically Black and part of the Southern University System. The Law Center offers a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree program and several certificate programs, including certificates in Elder Law, Business Transactions, Civil Litigation, and Criminal Practice & Procedure. The faculty consists of experienced practitioners and legal scholars who are dedicated to providing an excellent legal education to its students. In addition to its rigorous academic curriculum, the Law Center also offers an extensive extracurricular program which includes moot court competitions, student-run organizations, clinics, and externships.

Tuition & Scholarships: Southern University

Southern University Law Center offers a variety of tuition and scholarship options for students. Tuition for the academic year for full-time students is $18,822 per semester and $9,411 per semester for part-time students. Scholarships are available to both full-time and part-time students; these scholarships are merit-based and range from partial tuition waivers to full tuition waivers. Students may apply for scholarships at the time of admission or at any time during their studies at the Law Center. Additionally, Southern University Law Center has a need-based scholarship program that provides financial assistance to those who demonstrate financial hardship. This program awards up to $5,000 in aid each year and can be used to cover tuition costs as well as other educational expenses such as books and supplies. Finally, there are several external scholarship opportunities available through organizations such as the Louisiana Bar Foundation, ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund, American Bar Association Section of Legal Education & Admissions to the Bar, and more.
