Duty free shopping
Overview
The following items can be brought into Bermuda duty-free in hand luggage (persons 18 and over): 200 cigarettes and 50 cigars and 500g of tobacco; 1 liter of spirits and 1 liter of wine. Gifts valued up to BDA$50 can be brought in duty-free every 31 days but must be declared to customs. Note: No duty-free import of perfume and food.
Prohibited Imports
harpoons and drugs. Visitors should declare prescribed medication upon entry; the regulations are strict and strictly observed. The import of samples, sales materials and other commercial goods for trade fairs and conferences must be declared at the respective conference hotel before entry. For the import of firearms and ammunition, a permit from the responsible police director is required. This is usually only granted to participants in shooting competitions. Mobile phone
GSM 1900, 3G and 4G. The main network providers are Digicel and One. The network coverage is very good. Roaming contracts exist. However, it may be worth renting a mobile phone and purchasing a prepaid SIM card.
Internet
Numerous cafes, restaurants and hotels offer their customers free WiFi. The Bermuda National Library provides public computers with Internet access and offers unsecured WiFi. Public WiFi is also available via WiFi hotspots in some areas of Hamilton and at the Royal Naval Dockyard.
Post office
Postal shipments to Europe take 5-7 days. An international express service (delivery within 48 hours) is also offered. There are counters for poste restante shipments. Post offices are open Mon-Fri 8.30am-5pm, the main post office in Hamilton also Sat 8am-12pm.
