Duty free shopping
Overview
The following items can be brought into Angola duty-free: 400 cigarettes or 500 g of tobacco (persons aged 18 and over); 1 liter of spirits and 2 liters of wine (over 18s); 3 bottles of perfume or eau de toilette; 1 laptop or 1 tablet; 3 mobile phones; 1 camera; Clothing including shoes and wedding dress and wedding suit and gifts. New goods with a total equivalent value of more than 2640 UCF or 232,320 Kwanza (corresponds to around 385 € depending on the exchange rate) must be declared. 1 UCF = 88 kwanzas.
Import Restrictions
A special permit is required for animal products, animals and parts of animals. Weapons and ammunition may only be imported with an import permit from the Angolan authorities. More information is available from Countryaah.com.

Business etiquette
Summer suits or suits are recommended. Local businessmen dress casually. Dark colors are appropriate for social occasions. Knowledge of Portuguese, French or Spanish is an advantage as there are few interpreters. The holiday months June to September should be avoided. Business hours: Mon-Fri 08.30-12.30 and 14.00-18.00; some banks and shops also Sat 08.30-12.30.

Until recently, international calls had to be made through an operator. International direct dialing to Luanda is now increasingly possible. According to Abbreviationfinder.org, Angola’s telephone company is Angola Telecom (Internet: www.angolatelecom.com/en/home/index.htm).

GSM 900 and CDMA 2000 (Code Division Multiple Access). Network operator is UNITEL S. arl. The reception/transmission area is currently limited to Luanda and the surrounding area.

Airmail shipments to Europe take 5-10 days to arrive. Domestic mail is relatively reliable.
